Upon exiting the tube station, it felt as if I had entered a whole new world. The lively colors have begun to emerge from the houses and add life to the streets. I was amazed by all the colors ranging from lilac purple to mint green. I walked for hours, admiring the beauty. I did stumble into one or two bakeries to look at the pastries that caught my eye from the window shopping. Red velvet cake was one thing that successfully went home with me. The sun had emerged in perfect time to shine bright throughout the streets and allow for shopping in the market.
The market on Portobello Road was calm but brilliant. It was a Wednesday afternoon, which allowed for quiet to linger in the streets. The quiet allowed for an appreciation of the fresh fruit among the cobblestone road and the boutiques that were filled with Notting Hill merchandise. I purchased a ‘Notting Hill Shopping Bag’ to further my connection with the aesthetic of this small town.
Walking through Notting Hill filled my lungs with fresh air and opened my mind up to the beauty of architecture. The simplest experience I had will remain vividly in my mind for years to come.
