“Along Birdcage Walk”
Throughout this excerpt, the imagery incorporated allowed for the love to be highlighted. The man was able to convey his love for the woman with the descriptive words and phrases while also showing raw emotion. The slow pulling away of the woman was what tied on the heartache for the man and allowed him to share his true feelings about the pain he had endured through. This excerpt is a story of falling out of love and was described perfectly. The plot described tied all of the emotions together and matched with what the man was going through and how he felt. The empty park was an illusion as to how he felt: empty.
“The Definite Article”
This excerpt is filled with structure to describe the plot. While reading about everything that filled the park, it made it easy to imagine. The sentences were short facts of what this man saw around him, but it made the picture so much clearer. With the focus on the simple things he passed on his journey, they were able to tell a much more detailed story. For example, when he is intrigued by the bee in January it leads into climate and how everything is changing. This story is filled with double meaning through the plot and holds significance in the small details.
