The description in this reading brings to life the visuals of the eye and mind combined and highlights the spaces that every little thing takes up. It dives deeper into the thought of the small details, but also emphasizes the concept of not thinking too deeply into the simple things. The beginning also starts with an excuse as to why someone would be wandering the cold streets of London, which allows the reader to feel the need to escape the confined space that she was in.

“A Martian Sends a Postcard Home”

In the Poem, Raine is analyzing life and the world around us in a way that could be seen as unfamiliar and gloomy. It is from an aliens perspective about earth, which can be interpreted as odd. The metaphors that are talking about every day things we take for granted are put in perspective from the martians point of view on the simplest things like rain. The description in this piece can be made out to describe the mundane things in life and put an emphasis on how looking at things from a different view point can change the appreciation you have for the earth and the things around you. This poem highlights the concept of looking at things with an open mind and not judging things when you do not understand it.
