‘London Short Fiction: Routine’

This short story highlights the loneliness and empty feeling a person has when being stuck in routines. It emphasizes a never ending cycle of being unhappy with life. When you get stuck in certain routines that make you happy at first it is nice especially when those routines are shared with another person. However, when the routines becoming boring and uneventful, which most routines do, then someone needs to break it. And breaking a routine comes with short-term happiness while exploring and making her routines. But then you do the routines alone and then become lonely without the person.

I like how it portrayed the cycle of routines. You finally get out of unhappy routines and sacrifice being comfortable for excitement. But then you get into more routines and suddenly you are in the same situation you were in before and then you have to break those routines again to feel happiness. This cycle is never ending and portrays the unfulfillment people get out of life. People will never be satisfied with the life they have and that is why breaking routines is what people do in moments of crisis. And when certain routines are not shared with a significant other it makes the routines become boring and sad. This was a very good short story outlining being unfulfilled in life.
