‘Ethnic’ London Exercise

Chinatown

For this weeks exercise I picked Chinatown as the culture that I wanted to experience. When entering what is known to be chinatown, it was lively. There was so much going on and so many people crowding the streets around me. When looking up toward the sky, the view is consumed by Chinese red lanterns and lights. It is a beautiful sight. The lanterns fill every street and give a touch of cultural to the feeling.

The buildings are packed with many different restaurant types along with bakeries on every street. When I went, I stopped in a buffet that was selling all you can eat buffet service for six pounds. The food was amazing. The whole experience was amazing.

Fictional Scene

While walking along the streets, I was pulled right to the sound of endless chatter filling the air. I was awoken from my state of mind when bombarded with the pleasant smell of food. My mind sent me in the right direction. This is just what I needed. I needed to see other people happy and be involved in something other than what had just happened. I know I was in chinatown because the lanterns were hanging above me and guiding me around the town. I stopped in a bakery and picked up a sun cake to tide me over while I walked around. There was no need to be sad anymore. I was finally somewhere where people did not need me to be myself.
